EBPhD Celebrates Funding Successes

The structured PhD Program in Epidemiology and Biostatistics (EBPhD) is pleased to share the following good news:
EBPhD student Henock Yebyo was awarded funding from the UZH North-South Cooperation Center to launch a collaboration with Prof. Dr. Afeworki Mulugeta at the Ayder College of Health Sciences at Mekelle University in Mekelle, Ethiopia. Together with his PhD supervisor Prof. Dr. med. Milo Puhan, Henock and Prof. Dr. Mulugeta will assess the benefits and harms of using statins for prevention of heart disease in Ethiopia, which has not previously been studied in sub-saharan Africa. Congratulations, Henock!
The swissuniversities consortium granted EBPhD funding for a professional development series targeted to young researchers in epidemiological, biostatistical, clinical and public health research. The series aims to ensure that students complete their PhD degree mastering not only content expertise, but also the skills and competencies required to succeed in an increasingly competitive research environment.
