Working Conditions and Health in Child Care Workers

The purpose of this project was to identify organisational and individual factors influencing job demands, job reseources, health, job satisfaction, work engagement and turnover intentions of child care workers and managers in day-care centers in the City of Zurich. Qualitative and quantitative data was collected. Results suggest that the work experience and related outcomes (health, job satisfaction, work engagement
and turnover intentions) of child-care workers are predominantly influenced
by organisational factors such as agreement with and implementation of the
pedagogic orientation in workaday life, staff shortage and environmental conditions.
