People in the canton of Zurich profit directly from our research: our services are always based on up-to-date scientific knowledge. The EBPI maintains a close relationship with the population of the Greater Zurich Area and provides preventive services for thousands. 

Travel Clinic

The Travel Clinic provides nearly 40,000 consultations annually and is Switzerland’s largest center for travel medicine. Services include travel and vaccination consultations (with a focus on tropical and subtropical regions), care for returning travelers, sexual health services, and on-site diagnostic laboratory testing. The clinic ensures continuity of care across the full travel pathway, from pre-travel preparation to post-travel assessment. We advise individuals and families, including those with specific needs such as pregnancy, chronic conditions, long-term or work-related travel, and travel to remote regions.

Founded in 1988, the clinic is part of the University of Zurich and is internationally recognized for excellence in travel medicine. It is the only World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Travel Medicine worldwide. As part of EBPI’s service portfolio, the clinic contributes to public health practice, surveillance, and research infrastructure, while continuing to play a central operational role: it was the first COVID-19 vaccination center in the Canton of Zurich and serves today as the Reference Vaccination Center.

Prevention and Health Promotion Canton of Zurich 

The division of Prevention and Health Promotion of the Canton of Zurich is committed, on behalf of the Health Directorate of the canton, to promoting the health of the people of Zurich. In doing so, it works closely together with the Directorate. Organizationally, it is affiliated with the Institute of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention (EBPI). Since 1991, the EBPI has held a mandate from the Cantonal Government to plan, promote, disseminate, and coordinate prevention and health promotion activities, as well as to conduct health monitoring and surveillance.
