Prevalence, risk factors and consequences of gestational overweight/diabetes

With this project, for the first time in Switzerland, prevalence of maternal obesity and the possible risks of pregnant women with obesity and their offsprings will be examined on a population level. A realistic perspective of the hypothetical positive benefit to prevent maternal obesity by promoting weight loss before pregnancy will be provided. This will support clinicians and public health authorities in  defining targets for interventions aimed at preventing maternal obesity in order to achieve maximum adverse perinatal outcome reduction.
