Salutogenesis and positive health development at work

This ongoing project blends a range of models and concepts into a framework for researching positive health development at work. This framework (“JD-R Health Model”) focuses on a positive, salutogenic and a negative, pathogenic health development path. The salutogenic path describes a process in which job resources lead to positive activation, growth and development and thus to positive health. Positive health is defined as physical, mental, and social self-fulfillment. Examples are energetic fitness, happiness, psychological well-being, and being embedded in harmonious relationships. The project aims to advance measures of positive health in the working context and to better understand the role of the sense of coherence (SoC) and work-related sense of coherence (Work-SoC) in both salutogenic and pathogenic health development.
