aTavola

In Switzerland, there are primary care counseling programmes streamlined to
the specific demands of primary care practices for smoking cessation (“Free from Tobacco”), for physical activity promotion (PAPRICA) and for multidimensional approaches (“Health Coaching”). However, there is no comparable counselling program for dietary and eating behaviour. Therefore, “aTavola”, a practical tool for primary care practitioners, is currently developed and tested. The programme is conceptualized as short intervention providing general practitioners with the basic material and technique for initiating a counselling process on dietary and eating behaviour with focus on weight management. As subsequent steps, referral to dieticians or other specialists in the field is always an option. It is planned that “aTavola” will be integrated as an element into the multidimensional “Health Coaching” programme.
