Short Biography

I am an epidemiologist working at the intersection of mobility, climate change, and digital health. I lead the Mobility & Planetary Health research group, where we use digital data, participatory methods, remote sensing and other environmental data, and on-the-ground fieldwork to understand how human and animal movement shapes health outcomes across diverse environments. My work spans topics from climate-sensitive disease surveillance and sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention to maternal and child health impacts of migration to traveller health, with projects in Switzerland, Mozambique, Uganda, and beyond.

I led the TOURIST studies, a digital initiative that tracked health in travellers by combining real-time GPS, weather and social media data to explore health-environment interactions. My work also extended to Mozambique through the MIGRANT(h) project, where I applied machine learning and remote sensing data to study changes in land-use patterns after cyclones. In 2025, I launched the CliMaH project, which investigates the effects of climate change and urbanisation on maternal and child health in Mozambique. The CUHRS project, also launched in 2025, maps air pollution exposure in Uganda by linking satellite imagery with on-the-ground health data, spotlighting cleaner air priorities.
