Center of Salutogenesis
Salutogenesis is the concept of the origin of health (Antonovsky 1979, 1987), rather than disease. It focuses on strengthening individual and social resources that protect and actively promote health. The center was founded in 2017 and has been continuously supported by a philanthropic foundation.
At the University of Zurich it operates through three channels:
-
Salutogenesis-oriented research, publications and conference presentations by the Division of Public and Organizational Health
-
Chairing and supporting the Global Working Group of Salutogenesis of STARS, a group of 25 international experts aiming to advance and promote the science and practice of salutogenesis and to contribute to a thriving planet and societies.
-
Hosting the interdisciplinary Society for Theory and Research on Salutogenesis (STARS). This society with 2900 members aims to advance and promote the science of salutogenesis by connecting research and researchers around the globe.
