EBPhD Program Congratulates New Graduates Xiaobei Zhou, Lorenzo Tanadini & Mohaned Shilaih

The structured PhD program in Epidemiology and Biostatistics (part of the
Life Science Zurich Graduate School) is pleased to announce the successful
thesis defenses of Xiaobei Zhou, Lorenzo Tanadini & Mohaned Shilaih.

On December 14, 2016, Xiaobei Zhou defended his doctoral thesis
entitled, Improving Statistical Methods for RNA Sequencing Data: Outliers,
Boundary Conditions, Benchmarking and Differential Transcript Expression.

On January 19, 2017, Lorenzo Tanadini defended his thesis, Prognostic Factors
in Spinal Cord Injury Clinical Trials. Lorenzo is now employed as a biostatistician
at the scientific company Royal DSM's Innovation Center located in Kaiseraugst.

On January 23, 2017, Mohaned Shilaih defended his thesis, Systems study of HIV Transmission, Treatment, Co-infections, and Pathogenesis. Since November 2016, Mohaned has worked as a data scientist at the scientific start-up Ava AG, where
his team has developed a wearable fertility tracking bracelet for women attempting
to conceive and is currently recruiting participants for a clinical trial.
