Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention Institute

Faculties of Medicine and Science

We teach fundamentals of evidence-based health care and public health at the UZH Medical School. Our methods-oriented lectures and seminars (epidemiology and biostatistics) introduce students to research methods for clinical and epidemiological research that address questions of etiology, diagnosis and prognosis (including treatment). Thereby, students learn how to design, analyze and interpret scientific studies and how evidence is generated, synthesized and translated into practice. In our lectures and seminars on prevention and public health, we introduce students to principles of monitoring the health of populations as well as individual and population-based prevention and health promotion. Students also learn how public health and health care is organized in Switzerland.

Throughout our lectures and seminars we inform students about graduate (Master in Biostatistics and PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics) and residency programs offered by the EBPI at UZH or together with our national partners.
